SCAPE is a charity that seeks to research, conserve and promote the archaeology of Scotland's coast. SCAPE is especially interested in remains that are threatened by coastal erosion. This website contains pages that will tell you about our projects.

Our projects

SCAPE manages and undertakes a variety of projects including Coastal Zone Assessment Surveys and several excavations. We also run the award winning Shorewatch project which encourages and assists members of local communities to become invovled in practical archaeology and help salvage threatened sites. SCAPE news

SCAPE will be working with local groups on two excavations this summer. The dig at the salt pans at Brora will run from July 18th - August 6th; and the excavation of the Iron Age wheelhouse at Baile Sear, North Uist will run from August 28th - October 1st.
