The SCAPE Trust
SCAPE is a charity that seeks to research, conserve and promote the archaeology of Scotland's coast. SCAPE is especially interested in remains that are threatened by coastal erosion. This website contains pages that will tell you about our projects.

Our projects

SCAPE manages and undertakes a variety of projects including Coastal Zone Assessment Surveys and several excavations. We also run the award winning Shorewatch project which encourages and assists members of local communities to become involved in practical archaeology and help salvage threatened sites.

SCAPE's brand new project - Scotland's Coastal Heritage at Risk - was launched on August 13th in Edinburgh Castle.

Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs said of the project: "SCAPE has led the field in highlighting the erosion of coastal sites and it is a credit to its members and research that it has found a way to use incredibly accessible mobile technology to improve the national records through the creative use of local expertise."
